What I Wear Wednesday #6

Dress for the Weather with Basics

Happy Wednesday let’s jump right in because midterms are around the corner and time is ticking! My style tip this week is all about the basics. First, the easiest way to decide what to wear is check the weather. This will narrow down your choices and help you choose an appropriate, comfortable outfit for the whole day. Second, invest in basics that  go with everything such as neutral colored tops, bottoms, and shoes. Read on to see the basics I recommend investing in this season.

My New, Essential Basics

I woke up this morning greeted by gloomy skies and drizzles of rain, so I knew I would be dodging puddles to and from class. (Hence the need to leap, and it’s fun!)

What I Wear Wednesday

I chose to wear basic black leather Chelsea boots. They withstand the rain really well. Plus the color works perfectly with my black leggings creating a continuous leg line. Matching your pants and shoes lengthens and slims your legs, which is especially important for petite women like myself.

Check out my Chelsea Boots from J.Crew Factory. The boots are on sale! Every girl needs a good pair of black ankle boots, and these will last you a life time. The best part is the boots are appropriate for rain and shine.

To insure I wouldn’t get chilled I chose a warm, thick cardigan from Nordstrom Rack! I really adore it.

There are 2 different buttons, which allow the cardigan to be worn and styled in multiple ways. I am having fun experimenting with different configurations.

Another style bonus for this cardigan is it is on trend! Baggy, slouchy sweaters are all the rage. Believe it or not “ill-fitting” styles are in, especially paired with slim and skinny pants.

However, wearing it unbuttoned is nice too. It allows my neck to breath, and is good for air flow as the day warms up. Also, if you want to show off a necklace or patterned top, leave the cardigan unbuttoned.

Do I have you convinced yet that you NEED this cardigan? Show me how you wear it.

It’s so cozy and warm. Another great feature is it has pockets!

This Ted Baker shopping tote is a must have! It is the perfect bag to toss around and withstand all kinds of weather and activities. I do not worry about tossing it around or setting it on the floor.

There’s a small zipper pocket inside to keep track of small items. The size of the tote is perfect for laptops, books, and binders. It is also really sturdy and heavy duty.

If you are looking for an affordable, basic bag I highly recommend this Bethcon Bag by Ted Baker. It is an investment piece without having to invest a lot of money!

Now, it’s time for some real talk as I “stress” about Midterms! Midterms are this time next week! Literally, all my midterms fall on Wednesday, but I promise I will still be dressed to the nines.

Don’t turn your back on fashion when you become “too busy.” It’s important to dress well because it is a form of selfceare and will boost your confidence. You’re beautiful and deserve to feel good in what you wear, which starts with great basics.

Wrapping It up in style

This Wednesday I wear my new favorite cardigan that is like a blanket. The Ted Baker bag is functional, resistant, and cute. The boots are classic and versatile too. I bring it all together with bright silver accessories and a smile because I am certainly thankful for all these stylish blessings. Thank God for basics!
