How does one survive the unpredictable spring weather in style!? It’s all about the basics. Today, I am sharing a clothing checklist to help you make it through Spring in style without investing a lot of money in clothes you’ll only wear once or twice!
10 Basics
From head to toe, here is what you need to have in your closet for Spring. These 10 basics pair perfectly together to create so many different outfits! You can wear these in rain or shine all Spring-time long.
1. Denim Jacket
Denim jackets will never go out of style. They go well with shorts, pants, and dresses. Perfect for cooler evenings. J.Crew’s Denim Jacket is chic and long lasting. If you are looking for a similar look for less Shein’s Denim Jacket is a good alternative.
2. Rain Jacket
Spring showers are no joke, so a rain jacket with a hood is a must! Get excited because Target is collaborating with designer brand, Hunter! The Black Rain Jacket is unisex and only $40. My favorite rain jacket is from Target and looks like the navy rain jacket above from J.Crew.
3. White T-shirt
There’s no other basic I love more than a quality White Tee! They’re so comfortable and versatile. Don’t believe me, check out 7 Uniquely Styled Outfits, 1 White T-Shirt. I adore my AE Soft & Sexy V-Neck T-shirt.
4. Button Up
The types and options of button ups are endless! They come in a variety of fits, patterns, and fabrics. I swear by Express Women’s Portfolio Shirt. They always have them in a variety of colors and patterns. I wear them in all seasons with pants, shorts, skirts, and dresses!
I always love J.Crew Button-Ups, and American Eagle Button Ups are great for young, casual fashionistas. Click on the images to see more colors, fits, and patterns!
5. T-shirt or Tank Dress
Currently, I love this Jersey T-shirt style dress from White House|Black Market. It comes in petite, regular, and plus sizes! On the right is a similar one from H&M.
I get some of the most compliments on the $7 T-shirt dress from H&M (Pictured below), I bought my freshman year of high school! Obviously, it’s no longer available, but here’s something similar. Wear it with sneakers, wedges, or flip flops!
6. Shorts
I prefer trouser style shorts with a tailored fit. Personally, denim shorts are not appealing to me! They look unprofessional and lack comfort and versatility. I love my Mid-rise Cotton Blend Shorts from Express! I have them in pale pink and black.
J.Crew offers some of my other favorite short styles including chinos. Get the most bang for your buck from J.Crew Factory! I like their pull over and drawstring shorts.
7. Ankle or Cropped Pants
I highly suggest a good pair of ankle jeans! My favorite are from B.E. Humble, featuring an asymmetric cut bottom. Distressed jeans and unique denim styles are all the rage right now!
Here are other great ankle pants. Remember to select a neutral color, so they can be worn interchangeably with all your other Spring basics!
8. Flip Flops
The BEST flip flop brand is Havaianas! Flip flops are typically just that…floppy. However, Havaianas’ flip flops are light-weight and durable! I wear them to the pool and visiting muddy, rough job sites when working as an Interior Design Assistant for new construction. Flip Flops can be worn with a swimsuit, shorts, or a dress. Havaianas come in a variety of colors and fun patterns too!
9. Sneakers
A good sneaker is a fashion must-have for all seasons. The adoption of athleisure is making it acceptable and fashionable to wear sneakers in the office or with a dress! Look chic not cheap in these sneakers. Ecco lace up, Keds Slip on, and Kate Spade sneakers featured below.
10. You Pick Top
Everyone’s style is a little different, and your wardrobe needs are too. I am leaving spot 10 open for you to choose the best option! I suggest one of Shein’s trendy spring blouses. They are super inexpensive and adorable. Take a look at The MOST Inexpensive Fashion and Affordable Spring Denim from Shein!
